The main objective of this project was to create an interactive touchscreen experience that makes it easy for users to explore Ontario Provincial Parks, view key information, and plan visits in a simple and engaging way. A key challenge was organizing large amounts of park data in a clean and user-friendly interface without overwhelming the user. Another challenge was designing smooth touch interactions such as swiping, tapping, and filtering that feel natural and responsive across different screen sizes and devices while maintaining clarity, visual consistency, and accessibility.
Project Overview
The Ontario Provincial Parks touchscreen interface is an interactive digital system designed to help users explore and learn about parks across Ontario in an engaging way. It allows users to tap or swipe through different parks to view key information such as location, activities, trails, camping options, and natural features. The interface is designed to be simple, visual, and user-friendly, making it easy for visitors to plan trips and discover destinations. Overall, the concept focuses on improving accessibility to park information while creating an immersive and modern nature exploration experience.
Process
The touchscreen interface was developed through a structured design process starting with research on user needs for park information and trip planning. Next, a sitemap and user flow were created to organize how users would navigate between park listings, maps, and detail screens. Low-fidelity wireframes were then sketched to plan layouts for touch interactions such as tapping, swiping, and filtering. After that, a visual design system was applied using nature-inspired colors, icons, and imagery to reflect Ontario’s outdoor environment. Finally, the interface was refined and tested for usability to ensure smooth navigation, clear readability, and an intuitive touchscreen experience.

Deliverable Overview
The final deliverables include a complete touchscreen UI design for exploring Ontario Provincial Parks, featuring interactive park selection screens, detailed park information pages, and a map-based navigation interface. It also includes wireframes, a visual design system with colors, icons, and typography, and a prototype demonstrating touch interactions such as tapping, swiping, and filtering. Additionally, sample screens and mockups were created to show how the system would function in real-world touchscreen kiosks or mobile/tablet applications.
